Rakesh wins All-Odisha S R School Chess Title

Top seed Fide Master Rakesh Kumar Jena emerged champion in the All-Odisha S R School Chess Tournament, which concluded at Railway Institute here today. Jajpur lad Rakesh garnered 8.5 points from nine rounds to pocket the top prize of Rs 5,000. Third seed Rudraksh Parida, who finished runner-up with 7.5 points, became richer by Rs 3,000.
Altogether 230 players from 10 districts participated in the three-day tournament. East Coast Railway Institute working president Dr D Rama Rao gave away the trophy and prizes at the closing function. Airtel HR head Liliyan Mohapatra, All Odisha Chess Association secretary Vivek Kumar Tibarewal, host S R Chess Centre chairman Subhasis Patnaik and director Satya Ranjan Patnaik were present on the occasion.
